hello cruel world

For over a month, I've been battling the myriad forces of nature that act in response to the next guy who decides to self-host a blog on a raspberry pi. While it continues to operate at a temperature that is only just short of a blazing inferno, I'll stop short of declaring victory.

I looked at a metric tonne of blogs that I invariably failed to follow, mostly due to incompetence. In the end, the advice that worked out for me came from this post -- it really was pretty great. Essentially everything runs on a Docker container (using this image), and the website is served over SSL with certificates issued by certbot.

I'm not sure what I'll use this space for at the moment. Hopefully, this hosting arrangement will last long enough to see future posts...
